The Future is Jazzy.
Three weeks ago, I played a Jazz vinyl DJ set to a receptive audience of approximately 60 folks at an art gallery/tea shop. My Mom and Grandma enjoyed themselves, and so did some artists that I admire.
The experience felt like flow, restoration, a meditation. For the past few years, I’ve been trying my best to embody Jazz as one of my guiding principles. To me, that means embracing improvisation over rigidity, honoring duality, and continuing to center Blackness as divine intelligence. This event felt perfectly aligned with those ideals. The location, the tea, and the team at the gallery were super pleasant, too. With that being said, the future is jazzy.
Join me on Saturday, 3/21, 7 - 8 pm to celebrate Spring Equinox and the Divine Feminine as I play an all-vinyl DJ set featuring Black women Jazz musicians. Sip botanical tea blends, appreciate visual art, and enjoy divine sounds curated to put you at ease.
